printer Mail

HMRC has published further new and updated guidance for imports, exports, and customs to reflect the post-transition period regime:

  • Correction for late payment interest on customs debt and £25 minimum charge: HMRC has published new guidance on how to get a refund for incorrectly calculated late payment interest and an incorrectly charged £25 minimum interest fee. If businesses were charged a £25 minimum interest fee, they may be entitled to a refund of the difference between the £25 minimum charge and the actual amount of interest that should have been applied.
  • One month left for importers to move to single customs platform: Businesses must submit import declarations through the Customs Declaration Service from 1 October 2022 when it takes over from the Customs Handling Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) system for import declarations.
  • Customs debt liability: Information about the 3-year notification period, making a voluntary disclosure and direct representation have been updated. A new section about how to submit a voluntary disclosure claim has been added.
  • UK Trade Tariff: other documents and procedures: The addresses for the Central Community Transit Office (CCTO) and the National Clearance Hub have been updated.
  • Attending an inland border facility: Ebbsfleet and Warrington inland border facilities are closed from 12:01am on Tuesday 13 September until 11:59pm on Friday 16 September 2022. If attendance at an inland border facility is required during these periods, one must attend either Sevington or Holyhead inland border facilities.
