HMRC has published further new and updated guidance for imports, exports and customs to reflect the post-transition period regime:

  • Apply for a grant to help small and medium-sized businesses new to importing or exporting: clarification of who can apply for the grant.
  • Attending an inland border facility: updated to explain that tankers or heavy goods vehicles with bulk liquid of any type are temporarily not permitted on to the Birmingham inland border facility until further notice.
  • Excluded procedure codes when using simplified declarations for import: updated with the latest excluded customs procedure codes.
  • Reference document for Temporary Admission: eligible goods and conditions for relief: updated with new version of the Temporary Admission document for goods that can benefit from customs duty reliefs.
  • List of goods applicable to oral and by conduct declarations: the list of goods which can be declared orally or by conduct at the point of export has been updated. The guidance notes that this list is exhaustive, so goods not on the list are not covered.
  • Import goods into the UK: step by step: new guidance on how to bring goods into the UK from any country, including how much tax and duty businesses need to pay and whether businesses need to get a licence or certificate.
  • List of customs agents and fast parcel operators: updated list of customs agents and fast parcel operators who can help submit customs declarations.
  • Pay less import duty and VAT when re-importing goods to the UK: updated with more information about how to claim returned goods relief.
