Consultation on non-road mobile machinery and red diesel

printer Mail

The government consulted between May and July 2018 on the use of red diesel in static machinery and the main barriers to switching to cleaner technologies. No specific policy proposals have been made at this stage.

The objective of the call for evidence was to gain a better understanding of the quantities used across different sectors and the value of the fuel duty rebate to those industries which benefit. The response document, published in April 2019, highlighted cost and lack of practical alternatives to diesel as the main barriers to change.
