Generally speaking the Assets Recovery Agency's (ARA) settlement with Dylan Creaven has been well received by the British media. The Independent on Sunday commented that although Creaven had been acquitted in the criminal trial he 'was still paying for his suspected VAT fraud'. The Financial Times recognized that the settlement was 'the biggest result in financial terms for the ARA since it came into operation three years ago' and The Times perceived that the multimillion deal 'will boost its [ARA's] credibility'. The Guardian regarded the deal as marking 'a vindication of the new tactics adopted' by ARA after criticism that...
