If the Panorama exposé aired on Tuesday 19 September is to be believed many of the transfers negotiated in the Premiership and beyond are eased into place with a lubricant in the form of a 'bung'. Allegations of such corrupt payments surface periodically in football and are the subject of a current enquiry by Lord Stevens and now further investigation by the FA. The results of these enquiries and the secret recordings made by Panorama may be of interest to the Police or the Serious Fraud Office either of which could investigate with a view to criminal prosecution.
