The Chancellor has changed the focus of tax policy for the UK for this Parliament by omitting the word ‘corporate’ from the government’s previous mantra on giving the UK ‘the most competitive corporate tax system in the G20’. The Chancellor has tailored his policies to address three new criteria: the lowest corporate tax rate in the G7 and among the lowest in the G20; the best location for corporate headquarters in Europe; and a simpler, more certain tax system.
