HM Treasury has issued regulations to prevent tax benefits arising to a corporate investor in relation to a distribution from an authorised investment fund, where no underlying tax has been suffered. The Authorised Investment Funds (Tax) (Amendment) Regulations, SI 2012/519, came into force at 13.30 on 27 February 2012 and have effect broadly for any distributions made at or after that time.

Note: This news story was updated on 2 March. The previous version, based on the original announcement, said the regulations would come into force 27 March.
