Speed Read: The new coalition government has given an indication of direction on business taxes. HMRC has confirmed it will continue to treat US LLCs as corporate vehicles following the uncertainty triggered by the Swift case. The remaining HMRC debt cap guidance has now been published. The European Commission has launched a consultation on double taxation. In the Etablissements Rimbaud case the Advocate General concluded a regime previously found discriminatory in an EU context was not discriminatory in relation to EEA residents. The new tax aimed at mining businesses in Australia has triggered much controversy.
