Tax agents can now call one telephone number for all queries relating to their PAYE clients and self assessment (individual) clients HMRC said. Callers to the 'Agent Dedicated Line' will be 'given priority and answered faster put through to an adviser who has at least 12 months' experience and transferred to technicians if necessary to ensure your query is answered wherever possible during your first call'.

The CIOT welcomed the move and said it would enable agents to call HMRC staff with queries without having to ascertain which regional ADL was relevant to their clients.
