I came to HMRC as General Counsel and Solicitor in March 2008. I was attracted by the sheer scale and variety of the challenge facing HMRC and my part of it Solicitor's Office. It has not disappointed. I have enjoyed virtually every day since my arrival. My previous jobs had all been within the Government Legal Service and included time with the Home Office and the Attorney General; head of legal at the Office of Fair Trading and then at the Ministry of Defence; Deputy Head of the Treasury Solicitor's Department during which time I assisted in the setting up of the Attorney...
